Weekly Ramblings: New Year, Same Me?

Well, like they say, January is meant for dreaming and checking if our resolutions are doable or if it is to be ctrl+alt+delete(d). Right?

Since we are nearing the end of the first month of 2018, I thought we should talk about resolutions. Should we? If you’d like to tell me and others how you are doing with respect to keeping up with your resolutions, please do. I would love to hear how you do it. Honestly, January is generally the test period for me. I test the waters and see if I stay afloat, manage to swim to the other end or downright sink. Well, let me just say that it wasn’t too bad so I’m going to work on swimming to the other end.

My resolutions for 2018 are:
1) Make meal plans. I used to meal prep without a plan and now that has changed. In a diary, I write what I planned and prepped for the week on one side and what I actually ate on the other for each day. This is actually making a difference. I get to see where I’m going wrong. I’m definitely going to work more on making meal plans this year and get back on track.
2) Blog more often, maybe thrice a week. Errrr…. that is still WIP. But I promise I’ll get there. This post is a start.
2) Take social media breaks. Yes, I’m planning to be take off from social media 5 days a month. I’m in the middle of my social media break right now. It is not easy so I uninstalled Instagram and Facebook from my phone. I still have Twitter though. I don’t want to take drastic steps and then regret it. I don’t want it to be like a crash diet that failed and led to binge eating. Nope. Nah nah.

Speaking of social media, do you know I have a second Instagram account for food, photography and fitness? Yes, I do and please go follow me if you like the photos I’ve posted.

Here’s what I’ve been doing this week.

Being off social media has made me be more productive (not going to lie!). I decluttered my makeup, organised my makeup and jewellery cupboard, cleared my wardrobe, and met people. Yes, I did that. Being an introvert, it is very difficult to go say hello to someone. And because I don’t talk, people assume I’m a snob. *rolls eyes* Well, this year, I’ve decided I’m going to go out there, meet people and make friends.

I met a friend yesterday at The Brew Room, Besant Nagar. Not any regular friend but an author. See? I’m already making an effort to go out and socialise! VJ Eshwar is an author, blogger, publisher and has many feathers in his cap. And no surprises here, food pictures from The Brew Room, Besant Nagar, Chennai are here for you to see. No Weekly Ramblings post is complete without food pictures. Amen.

If you had to choose between coffee and tea, which one would you pick? Well, I picked both. First I had a cup of cold black coffee, bruschetta and Nutella toast. (which wasn’t great by the way). Then both of us need a drink to wash down the strong cinnamon taste from the Nutella toast so hibiscus tea was a perfect choice.

Don’t be fooled by how good the Nutella toast looks y’all. The bread had so much cinnamon that it was spicy and I was coughing thanks to the strong scent of cinnamon everytime I took a bite. I love cinnamon and cinnamon rolls are my ride or die but this one was cinnamon^infinity. Not exaggerating.

I would recommend The Brew Room for the ambience, interiors and the coffee. The food isn’t great though.

Britannia’s Deuce biscuits are the bomb! White chocolate/milk chocolate on a dark chocolate biscuit – What’s not to love about these combinations? Deuce comes in two variants – Milk Choco and White Choco. A pack of 6 Deuce biscuits cost ₹30. They are so good!

The above picture says it all. End of 2017, beginning of 2018. Never thought the 30-year-old me will be obsessed with Snapchat filters. Well, looks like Snapchat filters are here to stay in my life and in many of my pictures on Instagram (please don’t unfollow!).

That’s it for now. I’ll see you next Saturday with more food pictures, a book review (you’ll love this one) and maybe a rant. Maybe. 😉

How was your week? How is your weekend coming along? Anyone planning to watch/watched Padmavaat? I’m going on Monday. Ranveer Singh is bae. Enough said.
