MAC Pink Pigeon Lipstick: Review/Swatch/LOTD

Is it just me or is MAC Cosmetics obsessed with naming their lipsticks after birds? First it was Scarlet Ibis and now Pink Pigeon!! Ah well!! What’s in a name!! As long as the lipstick does its thang I’m a happy woman!! Nicki Minaj! You rock woman!!

Price: 990 INR

Now Pink Pigeon is a limited edition lipstick (and here again I might be the last one to give  you my opinion on it!!) and was part of the recent Strength collection that was launched in India in March.

The color is a strong, bright pinkish magenta which has a strong blue undertone so its a color not everyone can pull off. On me, it looks like a bright pink and the blue undertone can be clearly seen.

The finish is a matte one but like I had mentioned in the Scarlet Ibis review, these matte lipsticks unlike the ones in the Permanent range are creamier, better in terms of formulation and glides on easily although you need to exfoliate your lips before using it. Surprisingly for a matte lipstick, this one doesn’t dry my lips.

It lasts on me for about 6 hours straight and even then the brightness fades away but the color stays on my lips. The color stains my lips and even my fingers when I touch it. I found that it was difficult to remove this lipstick with the Lakme bi phased remover and the Maybelline one.
In  terms of coverage, a swipe of the lipstick offers full coverage and there is no patchiness or uneveness when applied. Of course, it can be worn as a stain but the beauty of the color shows only when you apply it full on.

Final Word: MAC Pink Pigeon is one of my most treasured “pink” lipsticks and the formulation of the recent matte lipsticks by MAC have me lusting for more!

And of course, how can I finish this post without showing you the picture of a Pink Pigeon??
