L.A. Girl Luxury Creme Lipstick: Be Mine: Review/Swatch/LOTD

By Ghayathri

Hello everyone!

While roaming around inside Express Avenue, Chennai, I came across a small but colorful shop. Curious, I stepped in and was surprised to find L.A. Girls there, and needless to say I picked up a couple of lipsticks 🙂 This was about a year back, fast forward to present, let me show you my favorite winter lip colour from L.A. Girls – Be Mine! Just because it’s my current favorite that doesn’t mean that it is perfect. Read on to know more about it.

What the L.A.Girl says about their Luxury Creme lipsticks:
“Luxury Creme’ Lipstick delivers ultra-rich colors in a lightweight formula. Its blend of moisturizing ingredients of aloe, shea butter & vitamin E enhances lips, leaving a smoother, healthier feel. Glides on effortlessly with the slant top, for-flawless even coverage.”

Ingredients:
Mineral Oil (Paraffinum Liquidum), Polybutene, Ceresin, Synthetic Wax, Diisostearyl Malate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Sorbitan Stearate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (Shea Butter), Microcrystalline Wax, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Parfum (Fragrance). The shade is a nice dark brown, which is very much wearable compared to the other dark browns I own. The application is so creamy that I don’t need a lip balm underneath (even in winters!). Now while that’s a redeeming factor for this lipstick, there are other factors which pull it down.

The packaging is simple, looks a bit cheap but is quite sturdy. The lid closes with a click and the product is travel-friendly. The fragranceis neither mild nor unbearable. If you can tolerate Rimmel London products on your lips (which I can’t, the bubblegum-benadryl scent makes me shudder), you can easily tolerate this.

It looks glossy on application but dries to a semi-matte finish. The creamy texture results in a not so impressive staying power. It stays for an average of 3-3.5 hours without a meal. It stains the lip and the stain stays for a couple of hours more. It fades away in a slightly patchy manner.

The pigmentation is very good, it goes opaque in a single swipe! Love it! It is essential to prep lips before application else the lipstick clings to the dry regions of the lips once it dries to a matte finish. Overall, I feel this is a very good range (if you ignore the smell and the packaging) and I’m going to grab a few more shades 🙂

Things about Be Mine which made me smile:
  • Well pigmented
  • Affordable
  • Shade – a very wearable brown
  • Ahmaaaazing texture – glides on like butter!
  • Presence of aloe, shea butter & vitamin E
  • Staying power is good
  • Travel friendly packaging

Things about Be Mine which made me frown:
  • Fragrance
  • Lengthy list of ingredients

Final Word: If you can tolerate the fragrance, go grab a couple of these, you will not regret it 🙂 I have one more shade from this range to show you, will review it in sometime, stay tuned!
