Maybelline Color Show Nail Paint: Velvet Wine: Review/NOTD

By Ghayathri

Hello everyone!

Wish you all a very good morning!! Yesterday we had a look at a couple of office wear nail paints here but today let’s take a break from sophisticated looking colours and take a look at a party wear colour, Velvet Wine! 😀 A bit of glitter, a bit of glamour, everyone needs a bit of those and this nail paint promises us both 😉

Now, I am a bright-nail-paint kind of a girl and wasn’t sure whether I should pick this shade or not, it is definitely not my kind of shade and after a lot of thought and mental arguments *Pick this, no skip this, pick this, no skip this, no just pick this since its just 75 bucks, what can I lose by getting this?* I picked it up! (Duh!) So without further chatter, lets move on with the review 😀
What Maybelline says about their Color Show Nail Paints: “The fashion fix for your fingertips!
Stay right on trend from your tips to your toes with new Maybelline Color Show. Our   gel based formula with color popping pigments, comes in 40 bold, super stylish shades that look great on nails. So go on, mix, match and make the most of color.
Shade & Type of nail paint: A beautiful wine shade with tiny red, pink and sliver glitters in daylight. The glitters are dense but do not look chunky.
Price and quantity: 6ml for Rs.75
Texture: Runny!
Finish: Shiny but feels a bit gritty on the surface.

Coverage: Sheer. one coat will give you a sheer look, 2 coats gives an opaque coverage (I’m wearing two coats in the pics here).

Application & Removal: Easy to apply, but removal is a bit tedious as with all the glitter nail paints but nothing unmanageable.

Drying time: Quick, but not super quick like the nail paints we saw yesterday 😛

Staying power: It stayed well for 5 days, started chipping by the end of the fifth day.

Suitable for: Parties! And if you like mature looking colours on your nails.

Thumbs Up for:
  • Price! Very affordable!
  • I like the packaging and the brush, functional and cute!
  • Drying time was quick.
  • Staying power – pretty impressive for a budget buy.
  • Removal isn’t very difficult, when compared to a few other glitter nail paints that I have tried, this one was easier to remove.

Thumbs down for:
  • Nothing!
  • You definitely want one reason for me to not like this product? Hmmm.. *After much thinking* I don’t like the shade much, not a youthful shade (but that’s just my personal opinion)

Final Word: There is nothing I don’t like about this product except for the shade. Quality-wise it is a great product! Yesterday we looked at office wear nail paints, today party wear, tomorrow?? Keep guessing 😉
