I love red lipsticks although Im scared of the prospective of looking like a clown. Whenever I see a red lipstick I always say βI can never wear that!β but eventually end up buying it. π
Red Rover from the Lotus Moistpetals collection (#112) was one such red which instantly made me put it away. I swatched it and made up my mind I would never use it then and there. But it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life.
What the company claims: A premium quality luxurious lip color which hydrates, nourishes & protects your lips for hours with symphytum officinale & plantage oyata seed botanical extracts.
Recently I had to attend a family function and I decided to go in for a look which included the usage of a red lipstick. Initially I was so excited about the idea but didnβt know if I would end up looking too made up. And then when I finally chose my products I decided to give Red Rover another chance and oh boy! Iβm glad I did!
The lipstick is priced at Rs 315.

The color is a bright red in the swatch but a little less bright on the lips. When you look at it in the tube it seems like a red with an orange undertone. One swipe of the lipstick is enough to bring out the true color of the shade. It does bleed a little.
The lipstick began fading away after a while (it lasted on me for 5 hours to be exact) and left behind a beautiful tint. And then I applied my lipbalm over it to give it an extra shine.
It has small gold shimmer particles which adds to the sheen but personally Im not a big fan of the shimmer.
On another day when I was pondering over how to use this shade for regular wear, I stumbled upon this idea. I exfoliated my lips, used a lipbalm and applied Red Rover as a lip stain (dabbed the color using my fingers). This works really wear for an everyday look ad brightens up your face.
What I like:
- The color
- The beautiful tint that was left on my lips after the lipstick faded away
- Staying power of 5 hours
- Reasonably priced
- The red and gold matte packaging is classy although the size of the cap is bulky
Dislikes:
- The gold shimmer (not a big fan of shimmer lipsticks!)
- It bleeds without a lip liner if you apply it directly from the tube. But the best method to use this one is the lip stain method!
Swatch:
I love this lipstick for the sole reason of pigmentation. I would give it a 4/5.
