Let’s Talk!: Unspoken Communication

I recently came across this picture and all I could think was, “Gosh! I can identify myself with this!” Whenever I see a girl go past I look at her clothes, earrings, bag and everything we girls would usually look at. BUT it stops with that. This doesn’t imply I judge someone based on their dressing, makeup or how they carry themselves. But I do feel the pressure of looking good all the time and I am scared of being judged. That’s the truth.

The immediate assumption people make when they see me is that I’m a snob. How can someone judge another person just based on how they look? This is something I really don’t understand and if you do please enlighten me.

Do you identify yourself with this picture? And if there is anything you would like to say please do so and let me know your thoughts on this. Let’s Talk!

  • This is a very, very important post, Deepika! As someone who has always been slighted for her looks, I understand how important it is to create a dialogue rather than to judge women based on their appearance, dressing or looks. I think women commit the greatest acts of violence towards each other by being silent and inadvertently judgmental.

    • I agree!! I know what both of us have been through.. especially you and I really salute you for standing up for what was right and being yourself <3

  • very interesting topic. I notice all those things too.. guess every girl does. 🙂 Though i dont judge a person’s character by their looks or dressing sense, i do love looking at people who take effort to look clean, groomed and presentable. I also believe in the tamil proverb aal paadi aadai padi. You like it or not, the way you present yourself makes the initial impression. But the unfortunate thing is, we cannot satisfy everyone. like, if you dress so immaculate some may find it good but some may call you a show off. If we start reacting to all these then we cannot be ourselves at all. we will constantly have or feel the pressure to look in a specific way to satisfy others. right?

    • yep 🙂 others are always ready to judge us.. i guess over time and as you grow older, all this doesn’t hurt as much as it did during school and college days..

  • lol… i think all or most of us do this.. n to me it ends right there!

pass a compliment to whoever is with me tat time – ‘hey see tat gal.. isnt tat tee cool’…. something like tat….

i also hv this habit of complimenting openly if i like something in somebody’s look 😀
