Lakme Absolute Bi-Phased Makeup Remover: Review

Did you guys see the latest Nescafe advertisement where Deepika Padukone tries to show off every part of her body?? (I’m not kiddin’ here btw!!). Somehow although the song seems stupid its stuck in my head and I keep humming it all the time!! Shake it shake it baby, make it make it baby I’m thirst I’m waiting for you.. ooooh.. I’m waitin’ for you!!  πŸ˜› But this is “absolute”ly what my skin would sing to this makeup remover when its been tortured with makeup the entire day!!

The Lakme Absolute Bi-Phased Makeup Remover has two components here: one being the oil component which is the dark liquid at the bottom of the bottle and the water component which is the light one. You can clearly see the demarcation in the bottle and all you have to do to use it is, shake it up baby!

The remover comes in a plastic spray bottle with a not so sturdy cap and since the top part of the bottle is a screw on type there is a possibility of leakage if not closed tightly. In terms of packaging I’m not too happy with it since I would have preferred a bottle with zero possibilities of leakage.

For a price of 210 INR for 60 ml the makeup remover is worth the money. It does its job well of removing makeup (I would like to stop and say “duh!” at this point!! :P). Initially I did find residual makeup on my face the next day but then after a while I realized that if the cotton pad is soaked in the makeup remover and used to wipe off the makeup for about 4 times and the remover is left on, and wiped again with a fresh cotton pad with makeup remover it comes off easily. Phew! Now that was long!

I’ve shown a small sample of how this thing works on waterproof makeup below. I’ve swiped the MAC Pink Pigeon lipstick, Maybelline Colossal Waterproof Mascara, Kryolan Blush F22 and MAC Modern Mandarin Blush in the left panel and an Inglot eyeshadow and 3 eyeshadows from the Sleek Storm palette on the right.

I had left the swatches on my hand for about 3 hours (the pain of not touching anything or keeping my hand anywhere was immense by the way!! :P) and then used the makeup remover on it. You can see that the Pink Pigeon lipstick is one helluva stubborn a** and that was the only lipstick I had a tough time removing (I had the same issue when I wore it too!!).

A tip to remove such stubborn lipsticks would be to rub a generous quantity of lip balm on it and wait for about fifteen minutes and then use a makeup remover to wipe it off! Works like a genius!!

Two questions that I would like to answer before I end this post are, one does it suit oily skin? yes it does, works well on my mom’s skin so I can safely say that even though it has an oil component girls with oily skin, you can use this. The second one being how this one fares compared to the Maybelline dual remover one and as a person who has used both all I can say is the Lakme one is way better!!

Final Thoughts: A makeup remover that does what it promises (removing makeup without a trace of it ofcourse!!) and one that would easily fit into your budget is an absolute must have!
