Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation: Warm Golden: Review

When Revlon launched the Whipped Creme Foundation I was all “hoo-ha!” (oh and thats my way of saying I was excited :P) I hardly use foundation unless I have some really special place to go to (because BB creams do their job well most of the time!) so I don’t invest much in them but I got this one just to know what the hype was all about!

What Revlon says about their much raved foundation:

Finally, truly decadent makeup offers ultimate performance. The mousse-like texture feels like silk on your skin. And, the time release formula balances skin for a flawless look. All day flexible wear without flaking, caking or feeling heavy.

Price: 800 INR for 23.7 ml

Ingredients:

Packaging: The foundation comes in a really heavy glass jar with a black screw on cap. I understand that they went all the way to ensure that the jar won’t break under any circumstance but I personally felt it is too heavy and the reallyย thickย glass casing is reallyย unnecessary.

Foundation in a jar is always difficult to use. Atleast i find it messy especially this one with the white plastic cap. How much ever I try keeping it clean, invariably it gets messy.

Consistency: It is supposed to be a thick creamy consistency which wasn’t the case when I bought it. Due to the really hot weather in Chennai (and really hot is an understatement!) it was like a liquid foundation. It is a little like a cream consistency now thanks to my extra special efforts to store it in a cool place!

Staying Power: It lasted on me for the entire day and it didn’t seem to disappear after a while nor did it disappear when there was sweat. I wore it out on a trip at 8 am in the morning and the foundation hadn’t budged even at 9 in the night!

Coverage: In terms of coverage, this one promises full coverage and delivers just that! There is a standard test I do to see if it is full coverage in the counter before buying it. I have this mosquito bite mark (which seems to have a permanent place there) and if the foundation covers that, then bingo! full coverage it is! So this one surpassed the test!

Finish: The finish, initially isn’t exactly a complete matte one but becomes matte after a while. Initially when applied it seemed like it lent a slight glow to the skin which disappears after a while.

The foundation blends well. On my extremely dry skin, it blends pretty decently for a cream foundation (which is usually a little difficult). I use a flat top brush which I bought for a whole different purpose for this and that seems to work the best. I tried using a stippling brush and a foundation brush but a flat top brush gives a more even and natural finish.

The only problem I have is, with respect to the choice of shades that Revlon had to offer! There are only 3 shades to choose from and I’m highly doubtful if that is enough to cater to the different skintones! I wish they had given that a little more importance.

I’ve used the foundation in the Romantic Blush tutorial here.

Final Word: A foundation that blends like a dream and gives you full coverage is like a boyfriend who can cuddle up and watch a movie of your choice! Both of these are something that you should never let go of! Revlon has really hit a sixer with this one!

Yep they have many more shades in the US market.. I wonder why they released only 3 shades in the Indian market and that too with such a stark difference!

Hey how do you remove it? It just refuses to budge with my organic surge face wash.. Do you use any cleanser or something?
