Colorbar Indian Eye Kohl: Review

Hi All,

Today I will be reviewing the Indian Eye Kohl from Colorbar. I say ‘the Indian Eye Kohl‘ since it’s the only kohl available from Colorbar, the one and only one! This was a random pick during one of my online shopping sprees. I had high expectations from this since it comes from the company which gave us the I-Glide pencils. Anyway, moving on to the review…..

Product description by the company :
The Kajal is smooth to apply and gives the eyes a dramatic jet black colour. It is wax based and creamy, making it easy and soft to apply on the eyes, it also contains camphor, which cools the eyes while Vitamin E and castor oil keeps the skin smooth and conditioned. It is available in Black.

Price : Rs.150/-

Ingredients : No proper ingredients are mentioned except camphor, Vitamin-E and castor oil.

Shade and texture :
The company says it’s jet black, but it’s not. It appears quite dark on swatching (when swatched with a hard hand) but it doesn’t show up so dark on the upper lids and waterline. The texture is creamy, smooth and comfortable to wear, no tugging troubles 😛 A slight cooling sensation occurs on application but it fades away quickly. My eyes are quite sensitive but so far I haven’t had any troubles with this product so cheers for that!

Pigmentation :
This one fails in the pigmentation department. Seriously, I’ve to swipe it on and on and on.. It shows up dark and proper on the fourth swipe or so on my waterline but by that time I lose my patience. So it’s definitely not something I reach for when I’m in a hurry.

Swatches :

(Top – 4 swipes, Bottom – 2 swipes)

What happens after 2 or 3 hours?
It vanishes completely! It doesn’t smudge much, only negligible smudging but at the end of three hours there is no sign of the kajal. I love this one for not giving me raccoon eyes but I hate it for making me do touch ups once in a while.

Summing up the Pros and Cons :

Likes 🙂

  • Applies smoothly, no tugging.
  • Minimal smudging.
  • Contains Vitamin-E and castor oil.
  • This kohl will last a long time.
  • Safe for sensitive eyes.

Dislikes 🙁

  • No proper ingredients list.
  • Pigmentation isn’t great.
  • Very average staying power.

Final Word : I give it a 3/5. I like it but I won’t be repurchasing it. It is a good product for its price but its not the best one out there, am a bit disappointed with this one. You can skip it.

Actually I’m liking the eyconic one quite a bit now.. but other than that I love the Oriflame kajal..and also the lakme nine to five one is decent on the waterline 🙂
