Craftsvilla.com: Desi Designs, Classy Creations and Super Shopping!!

Okay. My name is Kirthi Jayakumar. And I am an online-shopping addict.
There. I said it!!
So now that the confessional is over and done with, I’m just raring to give you the deal on a shopping site that I’ve been gushing about – Craftsvilla! Typically a destination for desi stuff – all things handcrafted and painstakingly put together, Craftsvilla takes you to a new world that bridles tradition and modernity into a beautiful product in contemporary regalia. Handcrafted and green-crafted (organic) products were just a way of life at Craftsvilla, and not just a fashion statement.

What I like best about the venture is that the endeavour is to support a social cause for the upliftment of artisans, craftsmen and craftswomen who have preserved our rich and diverse heritage and are now finding it difficult to sustain it.

Craftsvilla has plenty of handcrafted clothes- from Kurtis and T-Shirts to Gowns and Stoles, from skirts and dress materials, to sarees and designer wear. Home products are also available, with woodcraft pieces, toys, tableware, stationery, quilts and bedcovers, candles, kitchenware, cushion covers, decorative and candles- all of which are crafted with impeccable artistry.

The eco-friendly side houses beautiful pieces made by hand with materials such as paper, palm leaves, grass and coir. Particularly interesting ones include the organic home furnishings and the kadam haat sabai grass baskets. Craftsvilla also has plenty of accessories- jewellery, footwear and bags- replete with the charm of handmade elegance. Handcrafted soaps, cosmetics and air-fresheners are also up for grabs. Craftsvilla is typically a market-place for sellers all over the country to bring the best of their crafts to the desk.

Personally, I love the jewelry and bag section – the variety is just outstanding, and each piece virtually vies for your attention. Although some of the stuff might want you to pat your Debit card and console it in lieu of the dent you might be offering it, even your bank account would agree that everything out there is totally worth it. I always said I wanted to marry Flipkart, but now Craftsvilla is slowly threatening that position!

So here’s what I think, in numbers:
1. Site appearance: 4/5

Easy on the eye. Just that they could consider putting up a couple of vital clicks on the top, at the right – stuff like Contact!

2. Site navigation: 4/5
Pretty comfortable. You have the luxury of very neatly catalogued menus to pick from, but the only drawback is that there isn’t an option that lets you list products in ascending order of their prices.
3. Product Variety: 5/5
4. Product Pricing: 4/5
