Healthy Drinking :)

You must have all heard of skin experts talking about drinking water at regular intervals and replenishing your body with water every hour and so on. Well, this article is more or less similar to that but I’m going to stress on other important facts about water and the dos and donts with respect to consumption of water.

  • It is very essential to drink atleast 8 glasses of water everyday (your daily dose of tea, coffee or juice is not included!) Do not drink water only when you are thirsty. Keep drinking water every hour since water is important for our body’s functioning. . I generally have two water bottles with me; One which I keep on my desk while working so that I can drink water more often than I would if I had to go somewhere to get my water and a second one which I carry when I’m outdoor. If you think you might not remember to drink water every hour set an alarm for every hour till you get used to it.
  • It is very good to drink water on an empty stomach. One litre of water as soon as you get up is the tip we see in all health magazines. It is very difficult for me to drink one litre of water early in the morning. I can drink one and half glasses of water at the maximum. If you are new to this habit start with half a glass and then gradually increase it to a level which you feel works for you. This will flush out all the toxins from the body.
  • Do not drink cold water after your meal. This is harmful for the digestion process. Instead, ten minutes after consuming your meal, have water at room temperature

In Ayurveda, a person is recommended to drink water according to their skin type

  • Sensitive skin: Sip hot water
  • Dry skin: Drink warm water
  • Oily skin: Drink boiled water cooled to room temperature
  • Normal skin: Any kind of water is suitable but it always preferable to avoid cold water

  • Drink plenty of water to keep the skin moist, soft and clear. It helps against wrinkles and premature ageing.
  • Protein foods generally don’t contain a great deal of water. So when you are on a protein rich diet, consume more water than you would regularly do.
  • And last but not the least make sure to boil water or purify it before drinking it!

So drink plenty of water and stay healthy!
